Phillies SS Trea Turner exits with hamstring injury

Philadelphia Phillies star shortstop Trea Turner left Friday’s game with left hamstring soreness after scoring the eventual game-winning run.

Turner singled and stole second in the fourth inning, then scored from second on a passed ball in a 4-3 home win over the San Francisco Giants.

However, when the Phillies took the field in the top of the fifth, Edmundo Sosa was at shortstop.

Turner, 30, who is hitting .343 with two homers, 10 stolen bases and nine RBIs in 33 games this season, told reporters after the game that he would be out for a couple of days. He will be re-evaluated Saturday.

“I hate being hurt and it’s not gonna be fun for the training staff,” the two-time All-Star said with a smile, per CBS Philadelphia.

In his 10th season, Turner has a .298 batting average with 152 homers, 270 stolen bases and 519 RBIs with the Washington Nationals (2015-21), Los Angeles Dodgers (2021-22) and Phillies.
