The Milwaukee Brewers placed two-time All-Star left fielder Christian Yelich on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday because of lower back strain.

Yelich, 32, has dealt with back issues over the course of his career, and missed the last three games after leaving during the Brewers’ 11-1 win at Baltimore on Friday.

Yelich started fast this season, batting .333 with a .422 on-base percentage and a .744 slugging percentage in 11 games. He hit five home runs with 11 RBIs in 39 at-bats.

“It crushes us, you know?” Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Tuesday. “It’s a big blow, with a guy who started as well as he has, but what he did for our club. But first and foremost is the player. He’s not feeling right and he’s been through this before. … We have to get him right, bottom line.”

Yelich played for the Miami Marlins from 2013-17 before joining Milwaukee and was an All-Star his first two seasons with the Brewers. He is a career .286 hitter with 198 home runs and 717 RBIs in 1,404 games over 12 years.
