White Sox place P Lance Lynn on 10-day injured list

The Chicago White Sox placed right-handed pitcher Lance Lynn on the 10-day injured list with a strained right trapezius on Sunday.

The trapezius is a large muscle in the upper back.

Lynn, in his first season with the White Sox, is 1-1 with an 0.92 ERA. He has one shutout, 27 strikeouts and has given up two earned runs. He struck out 10 Cleveland Indians on April 15 and 11 batters against the Kansas City Royals on April 8 with no walks — the first White Sox pitcher in history to strike out at least 10 and walk none in back-to-back starts.

In a corresponding move, the White Sox recalled right-hander Zack Burdi from their alternate site in Schaumburg, Ill.

Lynn, who turns 34 next month, has a career record of 105-72 with a 3.53 ERA in 263 appearances (239 starts). He has struck out 1,442 in 1,446 1/3 innings in stints with the St. Louis Cardinals (2011-17), Minnesota Twins (2018), New York Yankees (2018), Texas Rangers (2019-20) and White Sox.

Burdi, 26, appeared in eight games for the White Sox last season, throwing 7 1/3 innings in relief. He struck out 11 and was 0-1 with an 11.05 ERA, surrendering five runs to the Royals in just 1/3 of an inning on Aug. 29.
