From Oregon:

EUGENE – University of Oregon wide receiver and 110-meter hurdler Devon Allen has announced that he will forego his remaining collegiate eligibility in both football and track & field in order to compete professionally in the latter sport that led to a fifth-place finish in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The two-time NCAA hurdles champion and 2014 USATF winner said he would remain in Eugene to train for the upcoming track season and enrolled in classes at Oregon, where he hopes to complete requirements for a degree in business administration by the end of the 2017 summer term.

He would have had two seasons of collegiate eligibility remaining on the track and one year of eligibility left on the football field.

“I recognize that my success to date has been the result of the contributions of many who have supported me along this journey,” Allen said. “I wish to express my sincere gratitude to my family, coaches, teammates, school administrators, friends, classmates and all the fans who made competing at Autzen Stadium and Hayward Field some of the most unforgettable experiences I could ever imagine.”

Allen, who posted a personal-best 13.03 in winning the 110 hurdles at the 2016 Olympic Trials in Eugene, added

Pac-12 Conference championships in the 110 hurdles and 200 meters last spring. He also accumulated 54 career catches for 919 yards and eight touchdowns in 29 games over the course of three seasons on the football field.
